Magento 2 E-Commerce Website for McVickerStreet

McVickerStreet is a new on-line business offering high quality handmade items from a diverse group of makers. Their website, McVickerStreet.com, is a platform that includes equal parts B2C and B2B functionality making it easy for customers to find and purchase the products they’re looking for while at the same time providing features to makers allowing them to promote their products and brands. In order to fulfill this challenging vision McVickerStreet called on Flexpro who in turn brought in Magento 2, a powerful and highly customizable ecommerce solution, to support the business.
Approach
Flexpro first worked with McVickerStreet ownership to refine the business vision and strategy. A key strategic challenge was finding a balance between the maker’s brands and marketing message versus McVickerStreets own brand. It was important to allow the makers stories and brands to shine through while maintaining a cohesive overall design that maintained the high-quality image that McVickerStreet was striving for. A second challenge was building an effective fulfillment solution that allowed McVickerStreet to maintain consistent branded product packaging and shipping response times while also leveraging a lower cost drop-ship model where possible. Establishing a clear direction on these issues and many others was necessary to ensure the right solution design was put in place.

Once the design requirements were established Flexpro’s team took the lead in developing and implementing the Magento solution. Implementation activities included selecting a hosting provider, installing the software, configuring Magento to meet specific requirements, identifying and implementing required extensions for shipping and payment management, coordinating content from the business team, and testing the product.
Outcomes
Flexpro quickly configured an initial storefront and design theme featuring basic branding and product categories. Subsequently, an iterative process of feature development was performed while product images, descriptions, and pricing information was assembled. This process included polishing the responsive design of the storefront for mobile viewing, optimizing image display, overhauling checkout functionality, adding social media sharing options for services like Pinterest and Instagram, implementing an SEO plan, and more. Flexpro also oversaw the testing of key functionality, including credit card and paypal payment options, shipping, and customer account creation and registration.
